Blog Post Release Me, Let Me Go…

When I took the picture of “The Cookie Stand” I was so excited about the concept that I couldn’t wait to get home and write about it. It was forefront in my mind for days and finally I found some time write. My first attempt was too long and the words wouldn’t flow. The next day I tried again. No matter what I wrote I wasn’t happy with it. It began to consume me. A week passed, and then two; it was constantly on my mind.

I finally sat down and posted what I had, hoping I could put some form of closure on this particular post. The bottom line, I hate it. Even my husband commented that he expected more from it knowing how excited I was about the Cookie Stand.

Needless to say the damn thing is still haunting me. My question to you is do you ever go back and “tweak” posts that you were not satisfied with, leave them as is or delete altogether? For those of you who read blogs, would you bother to re read something that had already been posted?

I probably just need to “let it go” but the anal side of my personality won’t let me. Tell me, oh experienced ones, what would you do?  This inquiring mind needs to know.

  • You know, I’ve had Jason go back and remove a segment from the show. In the interest of full disclosure, it wasn’t for the reason that I wasn’t astisfied. It was actually because of an issue I was having with my EX regarding something I had spoken on in the show. In order to avoid him running across the show and the segment and using it as fuel to fan an already raging fire, I had him remove the segment.

I don’t see anything wrong with rewriting the post, however I’d just delete that one and make an entirely new one, otherwise it might not be read.

  • Oh, and I didn’t mean to imply he heard the show and we had an argument. We had an argument about something at a different time, I I talked about the core issue of the argument, not the argument itself. He could have just heard the show and used it against me even though it had nothing to do with him.

does that even make sense? Probably not. :)

  • I have only “tweaked” my posts if I found a grammatical error – even if it’s days later. I know by then the post has been swept up by Google or any other trolling system BUT, if anyone ELSE comes by to take a look at it, I want to make sure it’s in good order.

I rarely go back and change the content, even if I feel differently or if it is no longer valid. I have added “Update:” to an addendum, but that’s about the extent of it.

If understand your thoughts about the Cookie Stand and it’s great. Just leave it mostly the way it is.

  • I don’t think I’ve ever changed a post unless it was written with the express belief that I would change it. Such as, a “to do” list – where I later go back and mark off the done items.

If I were to be in a situation such as this, I would leave the post in tact and write a new one in addition. Simply expanding or re-explaning how you feel about something is perfectly acceptable. I see no reason why you’d have to remove a blog entry simply for the purpose of sharing more thoughts on a subject.

  • I have gone back to add content that I have forgot but not to changes or tweak. I think the post is great the way it is.

  • I agree with Robert Sanzalone, He says it perfectly.
